We offer First Aid full and refresher courses at both our Napier and Timaru sites.
We assess the following NZQA standards:
- US 6400 Manage first aid in an emergency situation
- US 6401 Provide first aid
- US 6402 Provide basic life support
- SS 41501 Manage first aid during emergency situations
- SS 41502 Administer first aid
- SS 41503 Administer basic life support
The full First Aid course is level 1 and covers US 6401 and US 6402 or SS 41052 and SS 41503
Unit standards 6400 – 6402 are being phased out at a national level. They will no longer be available after December 2027. T
They are replaced by skill standards 41052 & 41503. Content and assessment is very similar to US 6401 and 6402. These two skill standards together form a micro-credential (Foundation First Aid M-C 5494-1). Trainees who complete these two skill standards in a full course will be awarded the micro-credential.
Level 2 is a further half day after gaining level 1, and covers US 6400. This standard expires at the end of 2027. Its replacement is SS 41051.
From late 2026, we are offering skill standards 41051 – 41052 alongside the 6400 series unit standards.
